Never Underestimate and Limit God

Reading for the Day:

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”          Ephesians 3:17-20

Why do we try to put God into a box?  God created all the boxes in the universe!  He’s only going to fit into one if He chooses to do so, and even then, that would be some box!  Yet we are constantly trying to squeeze God into a shape of our choosing.  Maybe we do this because we are trying to understand something that our minds cannot comprehend.

What we need to do instead is agree to not understand.  God’s love surpasses knowledge.  Our limited knowledge, our limited intellect, is human.  We are not supposed to understand yet.  And if we accept that, then we can find comfort and joy in the not knowing!

Once we accept God’s love, we become rooted and established in that holy love.  Our job is to work to understand the love, because the love surpasses knowledge.  If we suggest that something on earth cannot happen, then we are not seeking to understand how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ really is!  Why would we want to limit our God?  Don’t we want to be a part of something so unfathomable, so mysterious, so divine?  Once we agree to not understand, we can enter into a love so grand, it will fill us beyond the limits of ourselves, and spill out into the world, and into eternity.

Prayer Suggestion: “Dear Lord, Please help me to stop trying to impose my human limitations on You.  I know that my knowledge cannot fully understand You.  Please help me glorify your mystery.”

    im just thinking the creators of this site it is a very helpful site and i have learnt alot of things.im going through trying times of my life and i donot know how my life will be in the next days to come.i have set up at work and im worried that i might loose the job i have worked for fo more than seven years.im just asking for your GODSprayers my kids are too small to be stranded.i need your help more than anything.i donot how im going to overcome this problem.GOD SHOULD RESCUE ME THROUGH YOUR PRAYERS

    Dear Robert,
    First allow me to thank you for such a wonderful article but i would really appreciate if we can discuss a few points. i believe in god and i believe that god has the ultimate power. but i disagree with you in one point which is:

    As you know humans recently discovered that we are using only a small percentage of our brains capabilities and god said if we have faith we can do whatever we want… and here comes my point… if we have faith then things will be possible… but we can’t convince our mind with this power without proper reasoning. So what is the key for proper reasoning?
    I think if someone is welling to reason god’s power in his mind by using the real capabilities of his mind, then he will be able to own that power and in order for that someone to do so he shouldn’t relate it into certain incidents which we experienced in life and the normal reasoning which we use in our lives.
    I am not saying that I have this power but I’m just sharing my thoughts with you.
    As you said maybe the key is to think about god outside the box and the proper reasoning would be just like how we pictured superman in our minds when we were children. We all believed at some point that super man is a normal man who can fly and he is so powerful.
    So why cant we picture god (not like superman off course ) but as an entity that have super powers just like children do. And by doing so we might then have faith in him with proper reasoning. That’s a big question of course but maybe if we answer it well be able to get this power.
    But I must add one thing to what I mentioned, in order for us to do so all this reasoning process should not be contrary to the description of god (ultimate love) and I believe that this is the difference between gods well and evil powers.

    what im trying to say is if we can link gods powers and love with the reasoning of our minds since god created us like him then we will be able to have these powers … and of course it should reflect how we describe god in our minds as ultimate love and ultimate goodness..
